Digital Games And Story Telling

Digital storytelling in video game design refers to production elements, such as audio, video and animation, but it also refers to storytelling elements, such as universal themes, symbols and narratives. Digital storytelling uses media production and film techniques to create plot lines, events, characters and conclusions of video games. Modern video games enhance the user’s experience through greater interactivity and impressive multimedia content.

Digital storytelling empowers students to be confident communicators and creators of media as they gain essential 21st-century literacy skills and reach deeper understanding in all areas of the curriculum.

Digital storytelling empowers students to be confident communicators and creators of media as they gain essential 21st-century literacy skills and reach deeper understanding in all areas of the curriculum.

This technique is a combination of the old storytelling tradition and new technology. With increasing availability of computerized devices in schools, various forms of digital media production have become quite common as approaches to learning.

Although the concept of digital storytelling is closely linked to the use of new technology, we shouldn't forget that it is always the story and not the technology that teachers should focus on. We should merge the digital skills with the literate education; this is where teachers still have a role to play, even in the digital age. Educators at all levels can use Digital Storytelling in many ways, from introducing new material, to helping students learn to conduct research, synthesize large amounts of content and gain expertise in the use of digital communication and authoring tools. It also can help students organize these ideas as they learn to create stories for an audience, and present their ideas and knowledge in an individual and meaningful way.
